The third edition of the IAAF Continental Cup will be held on European grounds in the Czech city of Ostrava following a decision by the IAAF Council in Monaco on Tuesday.
With the upcoming Prague European Athletics Indoor Championships in March 2015, the Czech federation continues to show its commitment to athletics.
“I can guarantee the full support of the Czech Government and Czech Republic,” said Minister for Education, Youth and Sports Marcel Chladek.
Ostrava is planning to renovate their current stadium into a modern top athletics facility with capacity of approximately 15,000 spectators.

President of the Czech Athletics Federation Libor Varhanik expressed the willingness to prepare a special edition of the event with a good team which has a lot of experience from preparing the annual Ostrava Golden Spike Meeting.
“We have new ideas to organise this event and to integrate young fans. It is about video boards, entertaining event presentation, spectator involvement, fan zones and trophies for best team and athlete,” said Varhanik.
Representing the Ostrava youngsters was junior long jumper Veronika Sadkova. “We are crazy about sports and athletics in Ostrava,” she said, and mentioned that local schools will be highly involved with the event.
