    • Ingebrigtsens plan to make their outdoor debut at the Trond Mohn Games

The Ingebrigtsen brothers will open their outdoor summer campaigns on home soil at the Trond Mohn Games in Bergen on 22 May.

Jakob, Henrik and Filip are currently training at high altitude in Flagstaff, Arizona. They were initially planning to race at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford on 2 May but their coach and father Gjert has said they will not take part in any competitions during their stay in the United States.

Speaking to the Stavanger Aftenblad, Gjert said: “We have planned an intense competition period in June and July. Therefore, we have decided to avoid interruptions in the training period that the boys are in now. They feel it is important to utilise their time with quality work while they are at altitude in Flagstaff. That is, until they return to Norway on May 11.”

Both Henrik and Jakob won at the Trond Mohn Games last year which were held just after the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships. Henrik won the 3000m in a European-leading time of 7:42.72 and Jakob won the 1500m in 3:41.81.

The Ingebrigtsens have already been confirmed for the 1500m in the Stockholm Diamond League on 30 May and they will also compete on home soil again in the Oslo Diamond League on 13 June when they will contest the Dream Mile.

Another key competition for the Ingebrigtsens ahead of the IAAF World Championships in Doha will be the European Athletics Team Championships First League in their hometown of Sandnes where Norway will be pushing for promotion into the Super League.

In his final year as a junior, Jakob Ingebrigtsen has also expressed an interest in competing at the European Athletics U20 Championships across the border in Boras, Sweden.

Ingebrigtsen fell in the 1500m final two years ago in Grosseto but won gold medals in both the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m.
