Take our sport to your city and your city to our sport!

European Athletics has currently a programme of 10 different sporting events (Championships and Cups) and 2 corporate events (Congress and Convention) that represent 39 single events over a period of 4 years, all available for cities and national Member Federations to host.

From a European Athletics Championships with a full programme of stadium and out of stadium disciplines to the smaller scale specific disciplines’ events or from an Indoor to a Cross Country Championships, the offer is wide for cities to select an international athletics event to host as more adequate to their goals, dimension and resources.

Event bidding is the first stage for bringing one of the European Athletics’ events to a city in any of our Member Federations’ countries and our manual “From Bidding to Hosting” provides you with further information on the overall process how to become a host for a European Athletics Event.

We are pleased to introduce here the European Athletics Events portfolio at a glance but our team can guide you to  evaluate  the  most  adequate  type  of  event  for  your  City  and  Member  Federation. Bidding Manual is available for download here.  For  further  details  please contact us

Our flagship event the European Athletics Championships are the showcase of elite athletics at its very best held every two years.

The European Athletics Championships on non-Olympic year are staged within a multi-sport event and therefore part of a separate bidding process. The edition staged in the Olympic year is organised every four years, runs over six days with over 1500 athletes from 51 Member Federations and brings great visibility to the  city  with  a  stadium  and  out  of  stadium  full  programme.

To hold the qualification of a field event in an emblematic venue in the city and a mass participation race will make all  citizens to feel to be part of the Championships.

The biennial championships are an action-packed event over three days of intense competition with more than 600 athletes from almost all European Athletics Member Federations.

This event held in the first or second weekend of March increases the visibility of the sport and the city in a period of the year that might not attract as much visitors.

The  team  event  by  excellence  of  our  competition  programme  that  pits  joint  men's  and  women's  teams against  the  best  on  the  continent.

Exclusive for 20 to 22 years old athletes this is often the stage for the stars that already perform at senior level.

These  Championships  that  count  with  over  1000  athletes  competing  offer  the  best  of  a  major  championships event  with  a  lower  scale  of  investment.

Held  in  July  the  4  days  event  is  not  confined  to  the  track  and  field programme in the stadium as it can bring the race walking road events to the heart of the city.

These championships are the perfect platform for the 16 to 19 years old athletes’ projection to a senior career.

Mainly a team competition it features in one day separate events for Senior Men and Women in the distances of 20km  and  50km  and  separate  events  for  U20  Men  and  Women  in  10km.

A two days event that every year counts with the presence of most of the best athletes from the recent World or European Athletics Indoor Championships among the 300 athletes competing

This  challenging  outdoor  event  is  ideal  for  mountain  landscapes  and  combines  mountain  running  and  trail running in a 2 to 4 days programme of at least 10 elite and 2 mass participation races.

The teams scoring further to the individual results makes it an excitement for the national teams in a one day event connecting with nature.

    EUROPEAN 10,000m CUP

The event that brings long distance to the track, can gather the best long distance runners in Europe, that want to compete both for an entry standard for the major summer athletics championships and for a national team scoring.
